Clinical Interests

  • Lower limb injuries, in particular the calf complex and Achilles tendon
  • Maximising performance by managing training load
  • Rehabilitation and management of athletes post injury back to full fitness

Ian qualified as a sports therapist in 2001 and has been a regular therapist at the clinic for over 12 years. He started his journey as a therapist regularly working with Castleford Tigers Rugby League Club and Leeds United Football Club back in 2002.

Along with his sports therapy work, Ian is a qualified athletics coach and works with national and Olympic athletes from Leeds in athletics and triathlon, where he is also the personal coach to key athletes. He enjoys maximising the performance of these athletes by managing training load, race programmes and the strengths of the athlete, which can be a fine balancing act. He is much valued and trusted by the high level athletes he works with, and applies this same knowledge to athletes of any level.

A former Welsh international athlete, Ian has a wealth of experience in running and triathlon and is always keen to pass his knowledge on to his on clients while treating them at the Coach House.

He has a keen interest in the lower limb in particular calf complex and Achilles, but has a broad knowledge of most soft tissue areas.
