  • Injury prevention to maximise performance

John qualified as a Physiotherapist from the University of Birmingham in 2013, prior to completing a degree in Sports Science and Outdoor Activities at the University of Wales in Bangor.

Following qualification, he worked in London both for the NHS as a Senior Physiotherapist as well as in semi-professional sport for Rosslyn Park Rugby club before moving to Leeds to co-establish a sports clinic with the University of Leeds, working with their Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS) athletes. He switched to working in full time professional rugby with Yorkshire Carnegie and then Premiership rugby side Newcastle Falcons until joining CSPC in December 2021. Alongside his work with CSPC, he also works with UK Athletics, GB canoeing and England Rugby.

John has a strong interest in injury avoidance in order to maximise performance through a combined approach of strategies including load monitoring, strength and conditioning and biomechanical assessments. He uses this alongside hands on treatment strategies such as manual therapy, strapping and soft tissue treatments.

Outside of work, John has always been an active sportsman previously playing rugby and representative standard cricket, badminton and cross-country running. He is now often found out in the hills either climbing, fell running, mountain biking or skiing.
