Carl is an advanced practice physiotherapist, who since qualifying from the University of Teesside in 2009, has developed a wealth of experience working in professional sport, the NHS and private practice.

Carl’s interest area is with lower limb injuries (hip, knee, ankle) with a particular interest in ACL and meniscal injury of the knee. He also enjoys working with the sporting athlete, and is currently developing the medical services as Head of Medical with semi-professional football teams Thackley AFC and the Yorkshire Regional Football Team (YIFA). He also has had experience of working in professional boxing with Jermaine ‘Showtime’ Springer.

Alongside CSPC physiotherapy, Carl currently works in a highly specialist role within the NHS at Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust working closely with a number of orthopaedic surgeons and consultants who specialise in sports and exercise medicine. Carl has recently achieved a distinction after undertaking a postgraduate Masters degree specialising in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy and as part of this completed a primary research project that highlighted the importance of early accurate diagnosis of anterior cruciate ligament injury which has been published in The Knee Journal. Additional qualifications include acupuncture (AACP), kinesiology taping, manual therapy and Pilates (APPI).

In his spare time Carl enjoys being a dad to two beautiful girls, socialising with friends, travelling to distant continents, particularly Thailand and loves rock music. Sport wise he enjoys playing football and running in addition to strength and conditioning in the gym. He has also previously represented Middlesbrough in the national league as a futsal player.
